The yellow ribbon tied around the 'old oak tree' has for many years represented homecoming and the end of long absences. In the 90's this idea developed into the crossed red ribbon representing AIDS awareness. Today there are as many ribbons and variations in ribbon color as there are causes and diseases. Each one expresses the empathy and the awareness of the wearer.

It is my hope that the making of this bag will encourage others to start their own personal positive action campaign making use of their unique and diverse talents.

This bag is easily assembled in about 3 hours and is a fulfilling and fun project for ambitious beginners to intermediate level quilters and up. The bag shown on the front cover, symbolizing Breast Cancer Awareness, is from the Passionately Pink collection by Northcott. The back cover shows two examples made with Hoffman Bali Pops. This pattern is ideal for use with precut strips or with yardage. Inside the pattern you will find a list of all the awareness ribbons , their causes and their colors.

A portion of the sale of this pattern will be donated to the Cancer Society.
